A new garden kitchen to the walled courtyard of a seaside Victorian terrace.

A new kitchen for a seaside Victorian terrace that currently lacks a meaningful connection between the house and courtyard garden.
Through the creation of bespoke new doors and openings to the original rear elevation the inside and outside will seamlessly flow between house and garden.
The new openings are sympathetically introduced to the rear facade, making use of existing openings where they can to minimise structural works. Made from galvanised steel the new doors and windows will be robust to the seaside environment yet coherent with the existing timber sash windows above.
The informal kitchen is designed with a series of pieces of furniture that sit within room to avoid the feel of something built in.
Carefully chosen materials will be pared with those of the existing room, creating a collage of old and new, creating a new patina that feels like it has always existed.
